I remember SO looking forward to it ( I love Holmes movies and John C.....and quite like Will Ferrel) ...and then when released, the reviews seemed to show it as awful with a capital A.
I have to say, when I finally got to see it on DVD about a month ago..... I thought it was enjoyably silly and it did make me grin.
It's a keeper and on my Sherlock shelf.
