A couple things with elevator etiquette.
People who don't understand that if they are waiting for the elevator, when the doors open they need to wait for the people in the elevator to walk out before entering. It happened to me once where I was the only person in the elevator when it reached ground level where I would be getting out. And this lady who was entertaining a small group of people just barged straight in the second the doors opened up. And the small group she was leading just followed. And it's not like I was glued to my phone and didn't make an effort to move. And unless I was just riding up and down for fun, there would be no reason for me to have been in the elevator and not getting out at ground level. I clearly gave them a disappointed look and shook my head as I was making a pained effort to exit. I think most of the group understood, but the lady leading the show was too busy babbling to notice.
Now whenever I sense anyone is not going to expect to let the previous rider (me) exit first, I mow them down. I do get a lot of people who are waiting for the elevator and are standing right at the place where the doors open and immediately step forward. They are the ones who get plowed into. They were in the way, not me.
And what is with this move? Say you're standing there waiting for the elevator, and you want to go up - so you already pressed the up arrow button, and it is obviously lit up. Then someone else joins you who is also going up. Then they press the up button with a sense of purpose. Like they are going to make the elevator arrive, and whatever you did to make the button lit up, it wasn't done correctly. It would be going overboard - more than mowing people down - for me to then after the person pressed the already lit button, for me to start pressing it over and over really hard. Who knows? I just might.
