I missed yesterdays action as I had to work. Those marathon drop out stats are awful. I think the conditions bode favorably for the field athletes. Warm, calm conditions will suit them greatly. However, for every running event over 400m its gotta be pretty bad to compete in. Having the World Cup in this neck of the woods looks an even more awful decision than I had already thought. I should see pretty much all the rest of the events. The mens 400m hurdles should be a real humdinger of an event this time round. I love championship athletics. The temps inside the stadium are supposed to be tolerable due to a state of the art cooling system. However some athletes have been saying it isn't very effective. Coleman won the 100m in 9.76s last night. He goes 6th on the all-time list. I was surprised Gatlin managed 9.89s - he took silver. Couple of drug cheats? Well, Gatlin certainly is and Coleman's missed drug tests look very dodgy.
