So we know it's legitimate Oscar material before it's even released and because it won an obscure European film festival award? Doesn't sound too objective. Let's see how it's rated in other film festivals. Let's see how it scores with fans and critics after release. Let's see how it does with BAFTA, Actors Guild, Golden Globes. Isn’t Venice Film Festival one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world? It may well be, but very few films that have won the award there have even been nominated for an Oscar. Plus it's an award for the best film shown that week that the film companies asked to be in consideration. Not exactly a selection from the years releases.
