Would it by any chance surprise you to learn that at one point in that movie they were seriously thinking of making those four freakishly large emperor penguins(seriously they were big enough they might as well signed a contract with the NFL or NBA) who at the end drag Cobblepot to his water grave 'The Elders'? Basically HP Lovecraftian beings whom Penguin and the circus gang worshiped and communicated somewhat telepathically.
