I thought Hopkins was English so the performance was very good. I have yet to see the Spencer Tracy version.
The two Hammer versions are interesting twists---in the Two Faces of Dr Jekyll it is everyone he knows who is leading a double life--and his Hyde persona (handsome rather than ugly) is something of an amoral avenging angel so he can get back at them.
While the Sister Hyde version obviously found a very clever alternative idea.
I liked the Palance tv version--should watch it again to compare with the I, Monster Amicus adaptation since they both go in a different direction I recall.
