IMPO - We all have certainly been blessed & lucky
to be able to enjoy all the wonderful critters on this earth also

Though my friend has a pet rat. And I've seen people with a snake. So I think for me personally I would draw the line there
I guess everyone has a special personal preference
as to what kind of pet parent they wish to be
and so long as they care for them properly
that's what really matters
( IMPO - I think it's totally wonderful ! 
)

) . Unfortunately I never had a pet rat or snake
but I did have a lot of dogs , mice , gerbils , hamsters ,
fish , and the family parakeet bird
over the years in my childhood ( & in my teen years too ) .
. Sadly my current living arrangements
doesn't allow pets
and my limited environment
wouldn't be comfortable
or fair to the critters either
