One of the best horror films of all time, very intelligently written with a great cast. I'm an atheist who has a lot of contempt for religion, but I really respected the film's examination and treatment of faith. It would never be made today, first because no modern film pitched to a mainstream audience would take so long to build up to the all out supernatural elements (modern audiences having no patience), and second because having the sexual stuff involving a kid would be off limits.
