There's nothing worse than a commentator babbling over an iconic moment. Oh, I agree with you. But to enhance the moment would be the job a professional announcer. Enhance the moment. That could be done without drawing attention away from the actual event. That could be done without making the moment about him. NY Rangers winning the Cup is a fine call: "The waiting is over." Memorable words. Summed up what we all actually felt. Hell, we were all screaming when it happened so for you to think fans hear Buck or any announcer is absurd. But it is afterwards when that final moment is played in perpetuity that we realize, "Hey, Sam Rosen made a great call when we won the Cup" and how that moment was now and forever enhanced. You are just being silly when you say "Phillies are World Champions" is a great call. Once again you are actually exalting a complete lack of creativity. Phillies are World Champions. Uhh, no shit. I look at the quote Buck made like a Budweiser beer. It does the job - it's simple, refreshing and has an impact. Nothing flashy. No need for bells and whistles. i.e. - No need for any of these trendy IPAs the Hipsters are talking about these days asking if the certain beer is 'Hoppy' and what part of Belgium it came from. There's no need for it. A Bud will suffice and do the job.
