I agree with her major point, but she screws up with the details.
The problem with putting certain demands on artistic creations, is that they tend to blend together, which explains why the average modern female character is such a box-ticking snoozefest. They can have minor differences in personality, but, ultimately, they ALL have to become the exact same thing: strong, powerful, independent, righteous and victorious. This often results in zero tension, extreme predictability and a lack of legitimate character depth.
Another massive problem is that filmmakers try to make women look strong by compromising male characters, which is why the supposedly strong females are typically surrounded by unrealistically submissive and weak-minded males, who allow themselves to be physically and verbally abused and exploited, just to make her look empowered. Hollywood writers fail to realize that this actually makes women look cowardly and parasitical, rather than strong. It does a gross disservice to (a significant portion of) real men and women.
