I think the tone is more important than including any elements that would make it an R-rating - gore, swearing, smoking, explicit torture or taking drugs. Bourne & later Bond films managed without R-Ratings. Personally I'd be more pissed off if he wasn't British (which he probably won't be again) than any rating I take no notice of and would probaby not be the same in the country I am in. You read Blade books? They got gore and that stuff why change it? Especially with Joker's success there is literally no excuse for Blade not r rated His stories were not especially gory in Tomb Of Dracula and in some of the team titles. The gore only really took of post movie There are plenty of reasons why it doesn't have to be r-rated (I don't mind either way)...more than why it should.
