Standing alone on the mound at Yankees Stadium, an open target, he calmly and confidently threw a strike right down the middle of the plate. A true middle finger to anyone who thought the USA would stay down after the sucker-punch of that awful day. I was proud of our President, our country, and our greatest sport.
Just mentioning that moment in game 3 of 2001 WS gives me goosebumps. What a powerful sight having the President there throwing the first pitch! As far as I remember, that was the only time when the entire USA comes to gather regardless of party line.
Glad we will see game 5 and have the President attending the game. Too bad he won't be throwing out the first pitch. Probably for the better.
