I use one all the time. Grew up using one. My mom had one. The thing is, don't over-fill it, ensure there is enough liquid in it, don't do full-on heat/flame under it, and de-pressurize fully prior to opening. I run mine under cold water and wait until the button goes down. Then I hit the emergency release to see if anymore pressure needs to escape. I can say in the over 45 years I've used on, I've never had an incident.
