Simmons is statically the best eligible catcher not in the HOF and his numbers are better than some of the others already in.
Whitaker got shorted changed by the writers. He should be in the HOF. At the time of his retirement he was easily one of the top 10 2B of all time.
I don’t think Jim Rice belongs in the hall but if you say he does, I don’t see any logical argument keeping Evans out.
If you are a voter who is punishing PED users, I don’t see how you keep Murphy out. He was one of the best sluggers in the game in the 80s.
All that being said, Whitaker would be my only choice of that group
