Barefoot in the Park 1967, directed Gene Saks. Charming comedy based on a play by Neil Simon, that dares to be serious at times too. After the honeymoon life begins and being married is very quickly put to the test. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda were young and fresh at the time as the newlyweds. Mildred Natwick who plays Fonda's mother is the funniest character and has the funniest lines, and Charles Boyer is the newlyweds strange neighbour is old-fashioned charming gourmand with a bad stomach. The very small new apartment and the many stairs to climb to get there is nearly a character in itself is the cause for many laughs. Both Robert Redford and Charles Boyer were both rather short men and it's interesting to see how they solves it so they won't appear shorter than Jane Fonda.
