KING OF KINGS 1961 - This is the worst of the Samuel Bronston films I have seen--it's pretty dull with a tacked on Barabbas rebellion sub-plot. I am sorry to say this but: Jesus is boring. Having him as a periphery character worked great in BEN-HUR but less is more. Frank Thring cracks me up though because this, Ben-Hur, a couple of other historical epics and I didn't see him again until THE MAN FROM HONG KONG where it was jarring to find him in a business suit instead of a toga. The poor man's Vincent Price!
VICE RAID 1959 -- A cop gets set up by Mamie Van Doren but later helps her catch a bus back home.
Not to be confused with VICE SQUAD 1982 - Season Hubley seemed to specialize in prostitute parts. She takes us on a journey through all kinds of perverts--they don't leave much to the imagination. Wings Hauser is a crazy pimp named Ramrod (he also sings the title song "Neon Slime."). What is interesting with this beyond the fact that "go ahead, make my day" is used a year before Eastwood made it famous is that as a Hemdale production there are some similarities to the Terminator. Same LA locations, unstoppable killer hunting a woman...
Just one of those things you notice...
