Soldiers get enough goddamn holidays. America needs more Patriotic holidays. Patriots Day (here in Massachusetts, not to be confused with 'Patriot Day' on 9/11), Armed Forces Day, Flag Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day. Military flyovers at sporting events. The Armed Forces Bowl, not to be confused with the Military Bowl. I'm a patriotic American. Not the kind that makes halfass well wishes on TV around Veterans Day. I mean honest patriotism. This country means something to me. And even I'm disturbed by how much our culture revolves around the military these days. Ironically, Eisenhower would agree with me. We should have kept this separate and made it a 4 day weekend.
