Yes, I know that Sony already made a Venom movie, but that was a PG-13 superhero film that was made as part of a franchise. It’s a completely different beast from something like Joker. If you could pick one Marvel villain to have a standalone R-rated character study, who would it be?
For me, I think the answer would come down to either Dr. Doom or Magneto. Those two are generally held up as Marvel’s best villains, and they actually do have backstories that work without any superhero counterpart to work off of.
