I suppose it had to happen eventually, but after purchasing about 160 CDs by mail order over the last decade, I finally got a delivery that was so mangled that the disc itself took damage. The jewel case was cracked front and back in several places. Even the tray that holds the CD in place was cracked. And one of the jewel case corners was almost crushed. when ever I get a beat up case from a used cd, if the disc and papers are still ok, I just go upstairs when my roommates aren't home and swap it with one of their cd cases they never notice. 85% of the cds on that shelf already have damaged cases. I keep a supply of Memorex Standard Clear Jewel Cases on hand - in case I receive a CD where the "disc and papers are still ok" but the case is damaged. The annoying thing is when the outside of the jewel case is in pristine condition, but you still have to replace the case because the "teeth" that hold the disc to the tray are broken. But the worst thing is when you get a damaged digipak in the mail. That happens to me once and even though the disc itself was fine, I had no choice but to return it.
