Starring Al Pacino and Gene Hackman. This is such an underrated gem. It fits in with the era of "Us vs Them and we have a sad ending" types of movies of the time. The everyday type of basic man that gives you hope only to not have it all happen for the guy you are rooting for. I don't know how this one has slipped under the radar of all those similar movies of the era. Might be time for a rewatch soon. Your thoughts on those who had seen it? I liked it very much. Al Pacino and Gene Hackman would not seem to have chemistry as their acting styles and basic temperaments are so different, but they work well together. Pacino is adorable and you want to save him from himself. Hackman's character I liked so much, he seemed so solid. He's never been more attractive and appealing than here. The climactic water fountain scene was pretty upsetting. Best part of this touching buddy movie was Hackman's impromptu strip tease!
