Actually I'm liking the direction that the new Trilogy taking. One of my complaints about 2018 is there should have been more characters from the original to catch up with and I didn't care for the twist of Dr Satine, however, the upcoming sequels is shaping up to be a trilogy of movies set on the same night making a supersized sequel on the 40th Anniversary of the night he came home. When the Sartain twist happened I nearly got up and walked out. I was thinking it was going to be another Thorn scenario. That was, by far, the worst thing that happened in the movie. The story I'd heard was that an earlier version that didn't test well showed Laurie drinking and watching Michael being moved to the bus and making some sort of move to attack him or something that lead to his escape. They did away with that because test audiences didn't like Laurie being the cause of Michael's escape, so they had to come up with some other reason that he could have escaped, so they decided on making the 'new Loomis' actually a villain. It was a terrible idea, and Laurie being responsible for Michael's escape actually is a good and evocative idea that would have been an interesting direction to take things.
