Looking back at it now...it was okay. It has to be difficult to capture those intense and frightening moments that you have in the original Halloween and Halloween 2 for that matter. None of the Halloween movies have done that for me post Halloween 2. I don't have any particular love for Halloween 2, but I was sort of expecting the shooting style to be a bit more patient and deliberate than it was in the new one. There was a deleted scene where Laurie's granddaughter was jogging, came upon a dog hanging from a tree, and saw Michael standing by the car staring at her from a distance in a long shot. I didn't love the dog thing, but the long shot of Michael was very Carpenter-esque and I wanted more of that. That is exactly what I was talking about. Yeah maybe leave the dog out...but having Michael stalk a few people of Laurie's family or hell anyone.....seeing him watch them at a distance...it would have made all the difference in the world for the movie. That's why I love the original so much...it's that slow burn until night time...and every scene leading up to it is just a creepy nightmare! Love that movie so much!
