Tim Hutton's a very good actor, however I never got the sense from him that he had the fire in the belly to make it into the major leagues as a star. He may simply not have craved a starry career. In his early years as a star player he appeared in a number of decent film. It's not like he disappeared or went into eclipse after Ordinary People. The sons of Eddie Albert, Robert Walker and Robert Mitchum had careers in feature films with varying degrees of success, never came close to equaling theirs fathers' success. Tim Hutton has done better than most of them.
