Chronicle was a good film. He was going to direct the second Star Wars sequel trilogy films and it could hardly have been worse than The Last Jedi. Based on the fact that Fant4stic was a completely useless train wreck and Fonzi seems to be stuck in a release date limbo, his Star Wars film wouldn't even have been able to be better than The Phantom Menace, let alone The Last Jedi. And no, he wasn't going to direct a sequel trilogy film. He was going to direct an anthology film.
