Not exactly a brand name perhaps, but a retired U.S. diplomat opened Rick's Cafe Americain in (where else?) Casablanca in 2004. Fits fine to me. Reminds me of Rosa's Cantina in El Paso. According to local history, Rosa's was there since the '40s, but under another name. Renamed in the '50s, lore has it that Marty Robbins and his band stopped there after hours just to stretch their legs on a drive from Nashville to Phoenix, and the song was completed by the time they reached their destination, with Robbins never having set foot in the place he musically immortalized. Back to Casablanca, I remember now there was also a short-lived bar ('79 - '82) called The Blue Parrot in West Hollywood. It was one of my favorite "Boys' Town" bars for the relaxed atmosphere of its potted-palmed, ceiling-fanned, large-windowed airiness. No Ferrari in a fez, but you might occasionally see one parked on the street outside (without the fez).
