Yawn. I don't have to be better at anything to criticize an artist. That's an old-fashioned point of view and has been overtaken by the arts. I don't like his music, he bores me to death. Btw, I never claimed I could write music. Your first point makes you sound like a dim-witted child. Your 2nd point makes no sense. "That's an old-fashioned point of view, and has been overtaken by the arts". What does that even mean? Your 3rd point is fair enough, though I can say the same thing about Beethoven. Your 4th point about not writing music, then why are you bothering to take guitar lessons? Just to play other people's ideas? I play guitar, and I can play a bunch of other musicians work, but I've also come up with my own stuff. If you have even minimal talent, you should be able to do that. It's not THAT difficult. My first point was first stated by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, a famous literary critic of the era of the enlightenment. You should look him up sometime. Which is what explains my second point. I don't understand what you mean. You thought I was taking guitar lessons because I wanted to compose? Besides, I have come up with stuff too, but I wouldn't call any of it "songs" or "composition". No, I don't think that I was still better than McCartney, but I still think his music sucks. I didn't just play other people's ideas. I was a very good interpreter, but I won't get into a pissing contest here. I don't care. And I bet whatever you came up with wasn't better than Beethoven's and you are still allowed to criticize him or have an opinion about him.
