Veronica Cartwright in 1978 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" - It is criminal that I forgot to put the wonderful Veronica Cartwright on my my list of favorite females, because she really is. So smart, so resourceful. Really the strongest person in the room, at least in this movie. But I loved and adored her terrified Lambert in the following year's "Alien". Some people like to go off on the Lambert character, but, let's face it, most of us would have responded exactly like she did if we were in her situation. She'salso the best screamer in the business, bar none. She also gave the best performance in "The Birds". I don't know if too many people would notice that.
