Just think of it like Cap's shield. It looks awesome, but the closest we ever got to an explanation for it was Spider-Man pointing out that it made no sense. Majority of what these superheroes do won't follow real world physics or science but they do follow some kind of in-universe logic. For example, we know Cap's shield being able to do what it does is a combination of the vibranium properties of redirecting energy plus Cap's throwing skills. Sure it's not realistic, but it does follow some sort of logic. Wonder Woman being able to ride the lightning would be more akin to Cap riding his shield like a hoverboard, or Hulk punching water into evaporation, or Wolverine cutting-up a cloud to make a sculpture. Wrong, WW has magical Greek Goddess powers totally unlike Cap, Hulk, and Wolverine.
