The Days are Dark and Full of Terrors!

It's always strange how everyone bitches about Daylight Saving Time coming to an end, because then it gets too dark in the evenings... and yet, no one seems to give a shit that just before Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends the sun doesn't come up until after 7 AM... At least where I live.


Here on the Western Edge of the Eastern Time zone, during the summer, the sun is still shining until 9:16 PM, and it doesn't get dark until
until about 10 PM. Trying to go to sleep when the sun is still up is difficult.

Towards the beginning of Fall, The sun doesn't start to rise until after 7 AM. That means many children are walking to their school bus stops in the dark. Thankfully, when DST ends, there is some sunlight for them again. Even though, by now, the daylight has gotten so short, they are back to walking to school in the Dark again.

Right now, sunrise doesn't occur until about 8 AM!

But if DST didn't end, The Sun wouldn't be rising until about 9 AM! Everyone going to School and Work in the Dark, before Sunrise? Again, that would be crazy! I bet many would then be bitching about THAT!

DST or NOT... That hour of sunlight has it's pros and cons, no matter what end of the day, that you experience it at!


Interestingly, I hear, that on the Eastern Edge of the Eastern Time zone, many people are driving home from work in the Dark during the Winter, because the Sun is setting around 4:30 PM... In fact, I have heard that one state is tired of that, and was considering changing their time zone...

Yeah, I can understand that seeing the sun set by 5 PM, would be pretty irritating and depressing...


Children shouldn't be walking to school in the dark, no one should be driving home from work in the dark, and no one should be going to bed, when the sun is still shining brightly!

And so it's becoming very clear that there is some serious scheduling issues in our daily lives, and things need to be adjusted to balance out these daylight hours...

DST needs to change... OR... Time Zones need to be redone... OR... maybe all children should go to school later in the day, and all adults should work earlier in the day... OR... Perhaps, all of that!

If nothing changes, then we all will just continue to bitch... (Or is that just what we really want )
