SNEAKERS If you've missed it ... remedy that deplorable situation asap !
I used to have 'Sneakers' (1992) on video. Director Phil Alden Robinson was a hot ticket after the success of 'Field Of Dreams' (1989) and he put together a powerful all-star cast. Young gun River Pheonix was entering the big leagues having made a few indies and Dan Aykroyd was exploring more semi-serious roles. Sidney Poitier was undergoing a mini career resurgence, bolstered by his dynamic turn in the action thriller 'Shoot To Kill' (1988), and here was the promise of seeing him share the screen with Robert Redford during his supersmooth 'Legal Eagles' (1986) phase. Even two of John Sayles' company players were present, David Strathairn and Mary McDonnell. The film itself I found enjoyable, in part due to the coulourful interplay on show.
I've noticed it's still playing on afternoon television schedules from time to time; could do with a revisit. Thanks.
