And london777 -- Thanks for all the great titles. So many I haven't seen, but that gives me a lot to add to the list. Good laughs aren't easy to come by. Spider, good comedy is incredibly hard to write and to act. And it dates badly, whereas dramas do not so much. My own preference is for black comedy, but I have not gone there in your thread. I think you might like most of the titles I have listed. They are what I call "innocent" comedies, a genre that has all but died out. Sorry but I cannot share your fondness for comedies from the 1930s and earlier. I give them every respect as innovative trailblazers, worthy of preservation and study, but if I want to laugh, they just do not do it for me. My loss, no doubt.
