And london777 -- Thanks for all the great titles. So many I haven't seen, but that gives me a lot to add to the list. Good laughs aren't easy to come by.
My own preference is for black comedy, but I have not gone there in your thread. I think you might like most of the titles I have listed. They are what I call "innocent" comedies, a genre that has all but died out.
Sorry but I cannot share your fondness for comedies from the 1930s and earlier. I give them every respect as innovative trailblazers, worthy of preservation and study, but if I want to laugh, they just do not do it for me. My loss, no doubt.
