I just got off the phone with my oldest nephew to congratulate him on the birth of his second child. This guy is an inspiration to me.
My sister was a drug addict for most of his early years and eventually ended up cut off from him so he was raised by his father, another drug addict who was in and out of jail, and his father's family who were all either drug dealers or small time cons. He was raised to lie, cheat and steal.
When he turned 18 he left those losers, got back in touch with my sister, who's been off the drugs for about 15 years now and runs a successful transport company with her husband, got a job, met a great girl, purchased a house and now has two beautiful healthy children.
Lets's face it: a lot of people with two crackhead parents and raised by cons would have turned out very differently. This kid just ignored all the BS that was going on around him, cut off the negative influences when he was old enough, used what he had and did something with his life. Could not be prouder of my nephew.
