Johnson has been cast by Shane Black as pulp hero Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, as well. The film is in early pre-production.
Doc Savage, whose adventures are set in the 1930s and '40s, is a combination of Hercules, Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Indiana Jones and Mr. Spock -- with a definite emphasis on the latter. (Totally logical, always in control of his emotions, and celibate.)
I like Johnson, but he is not right for the role of Doc Savage.
