well he just saw clips of Joker and called them fine. If you know the man that is the highest praise he would give to this type of movie. Remember he called Marvel films not being movies, and disgusting. He just does not like cinematic junk food. It's appreciated. Read the original articles He responded to Marvel in particular because he was asked about Marvel in particular (read the Empire article, not the reports on it). But his problem seems to be with all super hero franchise cinema - he clarifies that in follow up interviews. His 1000+ favourite films do not list any "blockbuster" or franchise films after 1982, except one...Raimi's Spider-Man. No Marvel, no DC, no Lord Of The Rings, no Dark Knight(in fact no Nolan films), no Star Wars (and before 82 ONLY Star Wars) etc. He never called Marvel films "disgusting".
