If you know the man that is the highest praise he would give to this type of movie.
Remember he called Marvel films not being movies, and disgusting.
He just does not like cinematic junk food. It's appreciated.
He responded to Marvel in particular because he was asked about Marvel in particular (read the Empire article, not the reports on it). But his problem seems to be with all super hero franchise cinema - he clarifies that in follow up interviews. His 1000+ favourite films do not list any "blockbuster" or franchise films after 1982, except one...Raimi's Spider-Man. No Marvel, no DC, no Lord Of The Rings, no Dark Knight(in fact no Nolan films), no Star Wars (and before 82 ONLY Star Wars) etc.
He never called Marvel films "disgusting".
He later clarified his original statement
I said that I’ve tried to watch a few of them and that they’re not for me, that they seem to me to be closer to theme parks than they are to movies as I’ve known and loved them throughout my life, and that in the end, I don’t think they’re cinema.
Some people seem to have seized on the last part of my answer as insulting, or as evidence of hatred for Marvel on my part. If anyone is intent on characterizing my words in that light, there’s nothing I can do to stand in the way.
Many franchise films are made by people of considerable talent and artistry. You can see it on the screen. The fact that the films themselves don’t interest me is a matter of personal taste and temperament. I know that if I were younger, if I’d come of age at a later time, I might have been excited by these pictures and maybe even wanted to make one myself.

I wouldn't go that far, cinematic junk food will do. But then I find junk food disgusting, thus the circle is complete.
