Disgruntled Star Wars 'fans' making actresses quit Twitter because of racial and sexist remarks isn't toxic behaviour? Or what about sending death threats to directors because their vision is different than what these directors did? Ridiculing and threatening writers and columnists because they didn't like it, or stood up against the constant online abuse? Okay, if you say so. Yes...and there's disgruntled fans who are attacking people who worked on the movies because they dare to speak their disappointment with the final Star Wars products (i.e. harassing/slandering Anthony Daniels, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, JJ Abrams, etc.). The truth of the matter is there's always going to be "bad eggs" in any fandom. I'm not going to throw the majority of Star Wars fans under the bus and consider them all bad though due to the few who behave abhorrently online. I've gone to the various conventions over the years meeting fans/people involved with the films, the store releases of Star Wars merchandising, and the midnight movie releases. The vast majority of fans are friendly and passionate about Star Wars. I've made friendships from these Star Wars events, which are still going strong after many years. Star Wars fans enjoy well made Star Wars products just like any other customer base. When it goes wrong, that's when they don't like those products. It doesn't mean they're not fans or "toxic". They still like the prior Star Wars products - just not the new stuff (or only part of the new stuff).
