Just watched episode 5 of Season 6 titled 'The Key'.
**spoilers below**
Not a heck of a lot going on with Lagertha this episode.

She mentioned the death of one of her grandchildren from last episode to Gunnhild...and that was about it. I guess they're just mainly setting up for next episode with the fight between Lagertha and the head bandit. It goes without saying that I hope she survives. On the one hand, there's that prophecy about a 'Son of Ragnar' being the one to end her, so theoretically she should be immune to some random bandit dude doing her in. Though they could always 'surprise' us by having it not go down the way we think. I have thought for some time now that she'll go out similar to Ragnar - be brought to her absolute lowest point, and then receive a mercy-killing from Bjorn. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to be happy with ANY death Michael Hirst conjures up for her short of her dying whilst kicking arse. Speaking of Bjorn, this meme really sums him up:

Keep it in your pants, Bjorn! Gunnhild is too good for you! The one who he's currently cheating on Gunnhild with (who thinks it'll be 'different with her') should've gotten a reality check from Torvi's chat with her.
Speaking of wandering eyes, things got mildly more intriguing with Ivar's introduction to Princess Katya who looks like Freydis (played by the same actress who played her). I'm guessing either he'll continue being paranoid that this is Freydis somehow still alive (no matter how highly unlikely that'd be) and may try to off her for the second time, or he'll see this as having a 'second chance' with her - in which case I'd imagine it wouldn't be long before crazy Prince Oleg would have her offed. He's already shown how unhinged he is by offing one brother and chaining the face of the other (speaking of ol' Chain Face, I was surprised he was able to get busted out of jail so easily, as I'd thought he'd been chained to something and the only way he was going to get free was by having that big ol' chain in his face ripped out. Mostly, though, I just felt sorry for the poor naked woman in the snow whose job it was to distract to the guards. Bad guards! So easily distracted...and what'd it get you? Your heads cut of and served at dinner, that's what!).

Bjorn's election as King of all Norway was about as interesting as watching the federal elections on TV here - which is to say...not very interesting at all. And how impractical is their floating voting platform? They would've had to ail out to it, then sail back to land after, and what purpose does it serve when they're not voting? Watching any sort of election in a TV show aren't my idea of fun viewing.
The only thing worse was the Druggie Hvitserk storyline (seriously, someone OFF HIM ALREADY!). Did Michael Hirst look at the Druggie Ragnar storyline from Season 4 and think to himself, "That storyline was such a roaring success, I think I'll do another druggie storyline with Hvitserk! That's sure to be entertaining!"? At least we got to see the Seer again (though it appears he's still as cryptic in death as he was in life).

I certainly hope we're not going to be subjected to a 'redeemed' Ivar storyline. Speaking of He-Who-Slithers, I see they decided to dispense with any 'vague' similarities he has to a snake and just go full-on literal with it at the end there.

I'm kinda thinking the show's going to try to 'redeem' Ivar by having him help his brothers and his other fellow vikings when Oleg and his Rus army attacks. Or, knowing Ivar, he'll find a way to seize control of the Rus army himself and backstab everybody in order to come out on top himself.
