Batman (1989)
The Taco Bell promotion was just the tip of the iceberg. I think they must have sold a bazillion t-shirts and posters of the batman emblem on black before the movie came out. The Six Flags theme parks all had tie in rides as well. I can't remember any other film up to that point in time with a bigger advertising campaign.
