I've been a moderate Rush fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Permanent Waves. Before that, I really didn't care for much of their work. The music was too noodly, the vocals too screamy. It was on Permanent Waves where Geddy Lee's voice became more betterer. I think from 1980 to 1985 are the group's undisputed masterpieces. Power Windows' melodies are so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should. Because the songs are not just about the abuse of power and the importance of synthesizers in mid-80's rock albums. They're also a personal statement about the band itself. What can you tell me about Rush. Uh, besides the information you've just given? Where did Geddy go to school? Don't you know this? Before being awarded an honorary doctorate, if I remember correctly, Canada. Listen, I just - I just wanna help.
