I mean, how many times we see a case like this? Normally, the hero gets fatally wounded during the fight, but in this case, Stark was CLEARLY in good shape up until he snapped his finger. He was starting to die as soon as he put the gauntlet on. the Infinity Stones were draining his life. Exactly. Stark abandoned his own life for billions and maybe trillions - literally.
