13 TV Characters Written Out, Not Because the Actor Wanted to Leave, But Because the Producers Deemed Them Unnecessary:
01. Judy Winslow (first Valerie Jones, later Jaimee Foxworth) - Foxworth asked for salary increase so producers wrote her out. Later, it was revised so that Judy never existed and was never mentioned again. 02. James Evans, Sr. (John Amos) - Amos frequently complained about the direction of the show (like how it was spotlighting the popular J.J. character more and more, for example) and he was finally fired, his character dying in a car accident. 03. Charles "Chuck" Cunningham (Gavan O'Herlihy, Randolph Roberts) - the older brother of Richie and Joanie who mysteriously disappeared at the end of season 2 and eventually never existed in the first place 04. Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) - Sheen had mental meltdown and publicly trashed his boss, resulting in his being fired from the show and his character being killed off. 05. Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) - Maurice Hurley did not like working with McFadden, so Crusher left the Enterprise to head up Starfleet Medical in season 2 but returned in season 3 when Hurley left the series 06. Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers) - Somers demanded a heft salary increase. After being denied, she refused to appear in two episodes due to excuses such as a broken rib. She was later fired. 07. Jennifer "J.J." Jereau (A.J. Cook) - CRIMINAL MINDS - Strictly as a money-saving move, J.J.'s character was written out - granted with an excellent episode and a salute to her at the end. However, fan reaction was very negative to that move, and after a year or so she was returned to the show. She is still with the show in its current final season.
