Not only my favourite Netflix film of 2019 but probably my favourite Netflix film from any year. A gorgeous, strange, and very humanistic film that has been wrongly ignored during the awards season. Thankfully some good critics put it on their end of year lists which is what got me interested in it.
Also I Lost My Body, another beautiful paranormal parable, deserves a mention and I'm happy to see that one nominated as best Animated Film at the Oscars. It's probably going to lose to Toy Story 4 though. Shame.
Netflix started the year with Polar and Rim of the World, two of the worst films I have ever seen in my life, and ended with a bunch of heavy Awards contenders and even better indie and foreign films.
