With all due respect, stop with the “implanted in our collective memory” stuff. Nothing was implanted in my memory. I saw it happen. And yet there's no evidence to suggest that it did. It just makes no sense. The much more likely scenario is that you misremembered it like many others did. That certainly wouldn't be the first time memory failed someone. There's a reason that eyewitness testimony is considered unreliable. How is it an urban legend in the first place? How did so many people start talking about it? It’s not like Richard Gere and the gerbil, it came from SOMEWHERE.
