Yeah. Jim Plunkett was brought up. But Plunkett was a bust at two stops before the Raiders. He never had more than 3000 yards passing in a season. Even at his Raiders peak, he never started more than more than 10 games twice. Yeah a lot of that was the strange fascination the team had with Marc Wilson but all the more reason. You don't bench a HOF QB for Marc Wilson. The only real knocks on Eli is that he never really had jaw dropping numbers but he never played in a system than allowed him to put up jaw dropping numbers. And he wasn't as good as his brother. There definitely seems to be a double standard and bias toward the modern era, I doubt Plunkett or Tom Flores will ever get in. I actually thought of Flores, when they were congratulating Jimmy Johnson on TV. I can make a case for Flores, Yeah, yeah, 97-87 record. But most of the 2nd number was the 3 seasons in Seattle. John Madden only had 5 more wins. And it must have been a treat to coach the Raiders at that time. To keep the focus on the field with the move to LA and the lawsuits over their heads. Flores and Al constantly butted heads over on field decisions, the aforementioned Plunkett/Wilson QB controversy. I don't think he will get in but I'd consider it if i got a vote.
