does it cause you to have moments of explosions?> If you mean like panic attacks then yes-but not like I used to get them. A particularly bad OCD ritual problem used to cause intense sweating, heart palpitations, irritation, etc..but I haven't had a case of that in a few years (though it may be because it hasn't been provoked or the symptoms changed focus..but if the latter I don't know what it changed to).
The thing about the condition is that even if the behavioral trauma goes way down, the mind still demoralizes as if it was really a bad experience--this is why they recommend one make a diary of progress so one can see the improvements--because (at least for me) OCD creates depression and demoralizing thoughts even if it is a mild bout of anxiety.
I think of OCD as being like an open wound--you really want to scratch it because it feels better when you do, but if you do scratch it, then the wound stays open. But not scratching is very hard, and it is not always the best way to deal with it.
I never got exposure therapy or regular treatment so I had to deal with it by finding activities that made me feel better about myself, and use that to reduce the opportunities for the OCD to get inflamed.
