There are many more analogies, but I don't get how someone could be more annoyed with the response to a nuisance than with the nuisance which called for the response.

Yeah not really the best analogy because a crying baby or a cough is actively making a noise. It's much harder to ignore. On a message board that actively has an ignore feature it's not so hard to ignore. When I say the people that reply to him it's really only a couple posters but it seems like it's a drug for them to just reply to him everytime as it creates the snowball effect. I'm of the belief that if he was just ignored than he wouldnt have kept going. So yeah, I was annoyed by the ones that kept feeding him. He was getting out of hand though.
