When I heard the sad news about Mr. Bryant, his daughter and all who died in the accident, I was reminded of rock concert impresario, Bill Graham. He, too, was a passenger aboard a helicopter that was flying in less than ideal weather conditions. It was dark and rainy, and the copter hit some high wires. There were no survivors. Like Kobe Bryant, Bill Graham was highly successful in his field, widely admired, and generously gave back to the community. Many of his huge productions were fund-raising philanthropic projects. Anyone working on a charitable event could count on "Bill Graham Presents," to be of some assistance ... even if it was just to contact some musicians to encourage them to get involved. My heart is with Mr. Bryant's family, and close friends and colleagues. R.I.P., all. I was just reminded of another singer-celebrity who died in a helicopter crash: Stevie Ray Vaughan (36 years old).
