To be fair Denly's there to rotate the strike to the big hitters, not hit 6s and 4s. Also, they were 6-131 about 30 overs in. They needed to consolidate and did so. Denly made 41 runs off his last 32 balls. I don't think he coyld have done much more tbh. It was just a very poor effort from the rest of England's top 7. In limited over cricket everybody needs to be able to swing the bat. I get that Joe may not have the power to clear the ropes but he should be capable of more 4s than he delivered.
