To address a couple of other points raised: I'm not surprised in thsme least by NZ defeating India and won't be surprised if they win the series 3-nil. What they showed in the T20 series was that they are as good a side as India, they simply didn't finish games. So they didn't need to go back to formula, they just need to work on their finishes. 50 over cricket is a different beast anyway.
And just on Denly: he was playing the exact same role that Joe Root has been playing in ODI cricket for years. There will always be a place for a guy who scores 1s and 2s off most balls and holds up an end going at aboit 85-90 per hundred balls. Once England were in trouble it was his job to make sure he batted deep into the innings and get England through their 50 overs, with the guy at the other end taking risks. Problem is when your 6 down after 30 overs Woakes can't take risks either and the second he did he hauled out. So England never got into a "Happy Hour" situation. They were always too many wickets down.
