So in 1939, the academy was forced to choose a French film as a nominee for best picture due to 'Political Grandstanding'? He he he that's brilliant. let me guess, it was because the 2nd world war had just started and the Americans wanted to be nice to France?  If that is not the reason, come up with a better one. Oh dear lord
